Tonight you missed my call
Or maybe you ignored it —
6 rings and you were gone
The moon admired the glow of my mobile
As my thoughts spun round and round
And stars dance in my periphery
It’s the 365th day of orbit
And I’m still floating where you left me
Drifting in Neptune’s sea —
Alone…cold
Tonight you missed my call
Or maybe you ignored it —
6 rings and you were gone
I don’t miss the hollow of your eyes
But I saw your handprint in the constellations
And remembered the warmth of your palm in mine —
The palm with which I was never waved good-bye
You left with the decency of a shooting star
Just as pretty and just as bright
Leaving me in the darkness
To swim my way to the surface
Tonight when you missed my call
I just wanted to say goodbye
My head is finally above water
And Neptune’s rings
Are my spaceship home
