Lost in Starlight Shadows

You left in a burning haze

Like the sun, never looking back, you drowned over the horizon.

The sky a canvas of gradients

My pale lonely grey mixed with your everlasting lipstick red.

You always did like to make an exit.

Pulled by gravity you never could stay still

You chase and chase a moon on an intersection-less path

Orbiting around what we had

Orbiting around me like I did with you

Because you were my centre star.

I’m lost in a cosmic dust.

But now you come, a new day

But I'm still haunted by amber street lights

They silhouette your blossomed peach glow

But cast shadows on pitch pavement of nights you’ve never seen.

You rise from the east just to set again and again in the west

Hope burns bright at the peak of your arc but you alway echo in twilight.

You would have been radiant.

You would have been blinding.

You would if only I could see through eyes opaqued by silent nights of darkness.

You’ve blinded your one astronomer

But I still feel the apathy in your rays of warmth

That come and go like clockwork.

I guess some things never change.

I can't be mad,

It's in your nature to burn bright and disappear without a trace.
