The Fishing Rod

Jason Bradfield was woken up by the cold brisk that entered his cabin window. He got off the wood bed and changed into his blue overalls. Mr. Bradfield grabbed his fishing rod, and a bucket full of worms, and proceeded his way outside.

On his way out, he encountered his neighbour, Jimmy Plat. He greeted Mr. Plat with a warm smile and waved his hands. “Good morning Jimmy,” Mr. Bradfield said. “Yes, it is indeed a good morning,” Mr. Plat agreed.

Jason Bradfield nodded, and offered Jimmy to accompany him on the lake. Luckily, Jimmy agreed to tag along with him. Although Jimmy Plat looks like a nice man, there was something in him that seemed off.

The two men were discussing the recent disappearance of Michael Schwittz, and as soon as they arrived at the lake, both found themselves somewhere to sit. Mr. Bradfield plopped the bucket on the ground. He took a worm and pierced it onto the hook and positioned his rod at the far end of the lake.

After a few hours of waiting, something caught the rod. He tried to tug it, but it was quite heavy. He thought, maybe today’s my lucky day, maybe I’ve finally caught a big fish. He asked Jimmy Plat for help, and he did. They pulled the rod, and Jason could not believe his eyes. He let go of it, and looked at Jimmy in terror. They just pulled a dead man’s body out of the lake. Jason walked towards the body, and it was the missing Michael Schwittz!

Mr. Bradfield cried out for help, but Jimmy Plat had a different plan. Mr. Plat took a heavy rock and he struck it on Mr. Bradfield’s head.
